eat pasta if you want pasta.

I'm hear to tell you to eat pasta.
I know.

I can hardly believe it myself.
But listen!
Low cal shirataki noodles isn't pasta and the texture is weird says me and Tiff.
And spaghetti squash, which I had for the first time today, isn't pasta either.  I'd always seen spaghetti squash around blog world and most recently mentioned on Rosa's blog. So today I tried it with tomato sauce, a morningstar chicken-less chicken patty, and parmesan cheese.

   (Sorry for image quality. Nikon makes great SLRs, but terrible compact cameras. Tell em' I said so!)

My mother found it funny when she realized that the squash I had in the oven ended up on our plates as a lower cal spaghetti alternative. We both thought it tasted kind of good. Ish. It was alright. But it wasn't pasta.

Today's lesson:  If I want spaghetti squash, I'll eat the squash. But if I want pasta, there is no alternative. Weight-loss doesn't have to be painful, ya know?

*sigh* had it not been for this here internet how would I ever know you EXISTED?? Love the post and I cannot agree more! You cannot give me rice cakes and tell me they are chips! I'm learning to eat what I crave..I'm just working on not eating the whole bag.
Oh and fake swag totally=#thuglife. Ha you so get it :-)

I love spaghetti squash-but don't really dig pasta so it works for me. I always eat it will I can't believe it's not butter spray & sea salt. I don't know if it would be good with red sauce.

I hear you, there are somethings you can't duplicate. I say moderation is key. =D

pasta is pasta, noodles are noodles. I never try to food myself.
movie popcorn is movie popcorn and it should either be eaten with gusto or foresworn altogether. lol.
eat real food. nuff said.

When I want pasta I spend $$ on it- I order it online: Fiber Gourmet Pasta. I call it binge free pasta and I love it! You gotta see if any stores by you carry it. :)

Amen!! I get whole grain now. It was hard to make the switch at first but now I dont even notice it now. I love pasta and would never give it up. Weight loss isn't feeling deprived. It's learning moderation- often the hard way! lol

I was laughing when I read this because I just made Spaghetti squash yesterday. You are right. I have pasta when I want some. But with the squash I can fool myself if I make a lasagna with it. Check out www.greenlitebites.com She has tons of stuff with pasta/squash.

Hi! I'm new to your blog thru Brittany's blog... and I have to agree with the pasta thing. When I read about the low cal noodles, I had visions of me pigging out on huge bowls of almost no calorie noodles...then I tasted them. D-I-S-G-U-S-T-I-N-G. It was like eating worm, so gross! And I too read on the blogoshere about spaghetti squash being an alternative....umm no.... it's squash and that's gross too! I'll stick with pasta to thank you.

So True! I like baking it in things but if I want pasta I'm going to eat it. It's one of the simple pleasures in life.
