Dimple Snatcher Style (headband edition)

Are you as surprised as I am? I certainly wasn't expecting to talk style here, as tacky as I am.

Listen! I'm finally weighing in tomorrow and I have other fun--at least in my mind--blog posts planned, like a blogging 101 post and to continue with my photo sharing project.

But till tomorrow--and since I'm still working on a couples papers for a class--I thought to write a breezy post. But style? Huh. Honestly, I'm not a fashion forward kind of gal, but I do believe that style is an important extension of a person's personality.  So today I want to talk...headbands.

You see, I love headbands. Especially since I cut off all my hair.

I'm a bit self conscious about looking like a man so I hardly leave my house without a headband.

The surprising thing about headbands is how expensive they can get.

Exhibit A.
It's pretty, but $14?!

Exhibit B.
$20?!

Exhibit C.
I lovelovelove this one, but $16 is a dangerous percentage of what I make weekly.

Exhibit D.
$35?! What kinda madness?
Somewhere a child is sticking a heart cutout on her head...for free.
And someone in a 'third world' country just cried.

I've also been looking at this headband (below) for a couple months now. It's from Red Velvet Tart. And it would go perfect with my hair!
I'm especially in love with the teal version, but it looks to be sold out online...*SOB*

But then I realized...WAIT,  $22 for a piece of cloth is ridiculous because I don't have that kind of money!

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to support handmade and the artist, but I simply can't afford the expensive beautiful headbands I would like to own.

So instead, I buy reasonably priced ones from FOREVER or H&M. Like this flowered one:

Or I buy scarves from my favorite thrift shop and tie them around my head like so.

Sometimes I'm brave and I don't wear a headband at all! Crazy!

(See that dog that Julieta is holding like a purse? Well, she was pet sitting the little booger and when I was cooing at him he bit my nose and she was like, "Yeah. Sorry. I don't think he's use to black people".  What kinda madness?!)
Ha - this post was fun to write!

Cute post and frankly, the headband is your "signature" look.

My lil granddaughters are always wearing headbands and huge bows in their heair. They get so excited when their mama has a new bow for them... your headband is your crowning glory.

Havea safe and merry xmas friend

you to cute. got to love our obsessive self conscious stuff. you most certainly do not look like a man but i love headbands so i support you obsessions. i love the first and last one as well as the hand made but agree they can get super expensive. i have a lot of silk scarfs so i wear them as headbands like this http://aol.it/bbSHyO
