Day 7: a photo of someone I love.

Blue eyed boys!
I kid I kid.

Let's do my mother instead. It's the time we went to Curly's, a great vegetarian/vegan restaurant, back in January.

She's wearing my beret!
Good times!

Christine said..."hows about vita (Latin for life)... "

Miss Erika said... "Alexia, you should name it Boudicca. It sounds awesome, and she's a legit historical figure who was a BADASS. She was the leader of the Iceni tribe in ancient what is now Britain, and beat the crap out of the Romans when they tried to invade. Wiki her, she's amazing, and your amazingly beautiful new self (and hair) deserves the name."

my four year old shouted ELLIOT when I asked her so ELLIOT it is ;)"

Anne H said..."TAWANDA!
Think: Fried Green Tomatoes - the movie
unless you are too young to remember it!"

Anne H said..."If you DO chose Chris' "Vita"
you could be a VitaLass - (Vitalis)
Unless you are too young to remember that, as well!"

Candace Best said..."My name idea doesn't have a special meaning. I just think it sounds cool . . .Lady Adelaine :)"

hahahahahahahahah.

Day 6: a photo that makes me laugh.

The time we decided to roll down a hill last fall.  The orange scarf is me.

saturday night musings.

I did end up going to sleep around 7 p.m. and woke up over an hour ago.

My aunts came by and left fried fish much to the happiness of my brother and mother, but I'm worried about Vex Kitty and Suave Kitty. Their little kitty hearts can only take so much greediness.

Things like this makes me want to cry.

I just commented on Josie's interesting open discussion.

I ate lots of beans/peas (in my mind they're the same thing) in one plate of food today: string beans, lentils, rice and peas, chickpeas...thanks to the potluck team at church today!

Day 5: a photo of me.

Hope you're having a great weekend, loves.
I'm so tired I might go to bed soon and it's not even 7 p.m. yet!

In case you missed it:
Day 2
Day 3

I bought those sunglasses 2-3 years ago and I think I might have worn them once in public. I'm a bit too shy to wear such "look at me!!" sunglasses.

Day 4: a photo of the last place I went on holiday.

Whoa, day 4 already! It's crazy how quickly these day are going.

Ya know, I haven't ever really gone on a holiday. Well, at least not in the sense of going away for the holidays/vacation. I usually stay in New York. (I know, I really need to travel more.) So here are beach photos from this summer! That counts, right? I mean, I was on holiday from classes and I did go someplace.

Hello, Coney Island.

Oopps! I posted one photo times seven. They're all from a day at Coney Island's beach with some girlfriends last summer.

I'm loving this monthlong photo sharing project! See:

Day 3: a photo that makes me happy.

I went through more photos than I'd anticipated to come up with these two:
Sadly, my parents weren't the most camera savvy people when we were growing up, which is why we don't have many childhood photos. So I couldn't have been happier when last year I was tagged on facebook in these photos. They were taken a few months before we left Jamaica. See if you can find me!

I'm doing a monthlong photo sharing project:
Day 1
Day 2

--
Yes, I did go to sleep early as I was hoping to.
But I woke up tired. And I'm still tired.  I'm going to bed early tonight, too. I felt really really low today. I think it's partially due to some stuff I've been thinking about. And it doesn't help that I've gained weight--too much than I'd like to admit--since the semester started. The idea of having to lose weight I've already lost once before makes me sad, but it's a reality I'm accepting. Today I got up to lift myself from the floor and it was hard. My jeans were hard to pull up yesterday. And I just feel really uncomfortable and heavy so that it's hard to even lay in my bed. Can anyone relate? Has your weight ever left you energy drained?

I'll come back tomorrow to share more about the weight I've gained. In happy news, my big sister is home visiting!

Day 2: a photo of myself a year ago

The only photo I could find from almost exactly a year ago. That shirt is too big now, so recently I cut off the sparkly collar to make a headband. And I use the shirt for sleeping.

If you're interested, here's day 1 and to learn more about my monthlong photo sharing project. Thanks for the idea, Erika!

I hate late nights.

There, I said it.
Every once in a while, in a sudden burst of ambition, a dash of madness, and two or six scoops of procrastination, I'll decide to pull an all nighter on nights like tonight.

True story: All nighters make me want to cry.

In fact, hardly anything within my control makes me more unhappy. If I had to choose between this or an unlimited supply of this and my sleep, I'd pick my sleep hands down. I love that stuff!

True story: I overeat when I pull an all nighter. I'm so sad at being awake while Vex Kitty is snoring...while sleeping on MY PILLOW that I make excuses to eat.

I mean, I have to nourish myself while I'm studying? Maybe food will give me energy to stay up? I think I spied popcorn in the cupboard earlier?

Those are the kinds of greedy questions my brain asks. And then the next scene is me groggy from too much food.

So it's after 4 a.m. and in a little I'm going to head to bed. I'm going to move Selfish Vex Kitty a little so I can get some pillow space and dream about this woman, her fabulous hairpiece and all.

Tell me, do you get enough sleep?

I crave more sleep. But I think it's something I have to earn by planning ahead, keeping organized, waking early, etc.

I'm not a morning person either, but I prefer waking up grateful and well rested over going to bed really late and waking up vex...like you know who. It's better for my peace of mind I think. I've been feeling so unfocused lately and I know it has much to do with my poor sleeping habits.

When I wake up I'm dusting off my planner, looking for my alarm clock under my bed, and telling Vex Kitty that my pillow is MINE. Tonight I'm going to bed at 9 p.m. Wait, who am I kidding? I'll say 10 p.m. Umm, 11 p.m.?

I'll let y'all know how it goes :)
