Lots of walking today!

Melissa lives in a beautiful little complex, in an adorable one bedroom where she can hear the birds chirping. When she told me how much she pays for rent--and how cheap rent runs in Virginia--I about fell over. New York prices=insane! Which is why I stocked up on dove deodorant and hair conditioner at Walmart last night.

Today we ventured to downtown Richmond because Melissa wanted to show me around the 'city.'

It was so lovely, so quaint. I loved it! Their definition of 'city' is so different to what we mean when we say 'city' in New York!

I know it's crazy, but I've hardly done much travelling outside of New York in the past eleven years I've lived in the states! It's becoming more and more important to me to explore this country. New York has my heart, but other places seem livable and so so lovely too, yes?

My creation

Lots of adorable little shops (yoga+ thrifts + boutiques+ even a yarn shop!), restaurants, ...so much fun! Mmmm, and it looks like I will be applying to at least one school in Virginia come december...

The crazy thing about living in places like Virginia is that you have to drive everywhere! Insane. I'd heard of it, but only really experienced it these past couple days.

Melissa and I drive and drive and drive--it's good for conversation and good music! Melissa agreed with my guess that it takes forever for her to get errands done since she has to drive everywhere and to places that aren't near to each other.

Lovin' travellin' + hangin' with Melissa!

It's neat to hear someone in New York talk about how we tend to drive everywhere in the rest of the US :) My sister lives in Brooklyn, and when I visited her there in November I couldn't get over how there were those subway entrances leading down right in the middle of residential areas -- totally blew my mind!

I have to admit I'm a bit envious of the mass transit y'all have up there. Here (central Florida), if you don't drive, you're pretty much stuck.

Enjoy your time in Richmond :)
