reviewing my first 2 hr spin class.

It took:
  • One bowl of pasta--and mostly because I felt guilty about the lack of green...
  • A bowl of baby bok choy I couldn't make myself finish because it was overcooked and somehow unpleasant (maybe bitter?) to eat. Usually I love bok choy.
  •  A capable bra, comfy exercise clothes + gym shoes.
  •  One bottle of water. I really really thought I'd have to refill at the water fountain right outside the spin room a few times throughout the 2 hours.
  •  A good looking boy who took over the bike next to me for the second hour of the class, but then I promptly forgot about him...hehe.

Know what our bodies are capable of?
Much more than we know.

I love the helpful advice a few bloggers sent via twitter for the class:
  •  Sheryl tweeted, "...try to pace yourself and listen to your body. Slow down when you need to. I think that's always the best advice. And remind yourself that your BRAIN is often telling you to stop way before your BODY needs to stop."
  • Raquel tweeted, "Relax, enjoy it and stay hydrated!! Slow down and take breaks if you need to. But most important have fun :)"
  • Sarah simply tweeted, "Have fun!"
 I especially love what Sheryl wrote about my brain. My brain is sooooo much fatter than my body ;)
And I love that both Raquel and Sarah reminded me to have fun. I think that often we put so much stress on how many calories we burn, etc., that we forget to have fun.

I really did have fun and I kept pushing my body, urging my brain that I had it in me. Thanks for the advice, ladies! Today's class was the most challenging move I've ever made for my body :)

You have a cute voice, that is not what I thought you would sound like ;) Way to go! Spinning is the hardest workout that I have ever done! WAY TO GO ! WOOT WOOT!

I know what you mean. I still can't believe I can do an hour on the stairmaster.
Great job on the spin class.
I have never had bok choy. I am sure it's good though.

That's great Alexia. You just went for it. It's surprising what our bodies can do if we just push. You're really coming into your own...

Your voice is adorable!
"my brain is fatter than my body" <- that is so true ... and the part in the video when you mentioned envisioning the drama of falling off the bike and being dehydrated was Soo the fat brain making up stories.
I love reading that other people's brain's do the same thing.
Congrats on your 2 hrs! You do it!

Congrats to you. I always think that it is mind over matter when I want to attempt something. I got that from Jillian from Biggest Loser; her DVDs have those statements in them too. You rock!
